INTRODUCTION
You will learn about one dinosaur and the time period in which it lived. You will then work together with the other members of your class to design a Dinosaur Zoo.

THE PROCESS
1. Learn about the time of the dinosaurs.
a. Where in time did the dinosaurs live?
Look at the picture of the staircase below. Each step shows millions of years in the age of the earth.

The bottom step is when the earth was very young. We live at the top of the yellow stair step. Dinosaurs lived 245 million years ago, where the green stair steps begin. The Age of Dinosaurs, the Mesozoic era, lasted for three green stair steps or for 185 million years. At the end of the Cretaceous period, 65 million years ago, dinosaurs suddenly died out and became extinct.

b. We learn about dinosaurs by digging up their bones. Click below to watch a clip about dinosaur fossils. Then use your Back button on your web browser to return to your webquest.

Make a stand-up model of your dinosaur.Draw a stand on the bottom. See the example below.

crosspiece
Make a crosspiece to help your dinosaur stand-up.
Glue the dinosaur picture and the crosspiece onto cardboard. Cut them out and put them together.
Colour the picture of the habitat for the time period.
Stand your dinosaur up in front of your picture.
Meet with construction crew foreman (your teacher) to discuss your group presentation and construction on the dinosaur zoo.
